Ada Chung is a 3rd year undergraduate majoring in Political Science and minoring in Disability Studies. She joined PSHP during her first year as a part of the 2019-2020 cohort. Through taking classes such as Health Policy and Management 140 and Community Health M237 (Evolving Paradigms of Prevention: Interventions in Early Childhood) she has developed a strong desire to pursue health/disability policy alongside a career as a physician. She is excited to see how she can combine her experiences with patient care to make changes at the policy level in hopes of improving health care for immigrants and individuals with disabilities. She attributes her success and growth to her professional mentors in PSHP who have both helped her navigate UCLA and her career goals. She will continue to lead UCLA All Brains and the undergraduate division of the Los Angeles Human Rights Initiative this upcoming year. Outside of school, she loves dancing, fashion blogging, exploring new cafes, and creating art.
She advises incoming undergraduate students pursuing health care to “not be afraid to explore different interests and find ways to combine them with your career interests”. Coming into UCLA, she wasn’t sure how she’d be able to pursue her interests in policy and government, but has found that she can still balance pursuing Political Science while being on the pre-medical track.
